How it works

  1. Step 1: Enter an address

Any URL. The code is drawn in your browser as you type; nothing is uploaded.

  2. Step 2: Download the PNG

No watermark and no account. Print it at least 2cm across.

  3. Step 3: Make it editable

Point a code at a short link in a free account and change the destination without reprinting.

Good to know before you print

A code made here and a code made in an account are different things.

Keep the quiet margin around the code and print it at least 2cm across for a phone at arm’s length. Dark on a light ground scans from further away and in worse light than any tinted or inverted version.

Questions, answered

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. Completely free, with no signup required and no watermark on the downloaded image. The code runs entirely in your browser.

What file formats can I download?

This free tool exports PNG. PNG is lossless, widely supported, and prints cleanly at standard business-card and poster sizes. QR codes generated for a ShortZen short link inside your account also export SVG, which stays sharp at any print size.

Is the PNG resolution high enough to print?

The generated PNG is 256 × 256 px. For small print items (business cards, stickers) this is sufficient. For large-format print (A3 posters and above), pair your QR with a short link so scanners reach the right page regardless of scale. QR codes are tolerant of enlargement because they use error-correction.

Do these QR codes expire? Are they static or dynamic?

QR codes generated here are static PNG images that encode the URL you enter. They do not expire on their own. However, because the URL is baked in, updating the destination requires a reprint. For editable QR codes (where you can change the destination URL without reprinting), create a ShortZen short link and generate a QR code for that link instead. Update the short link destination any time; the QR stays the same.
