Move your links and keep every address working
Bring your links from Bitly, Rebrandly, Short.io, Dub to ShortZen. If they live on your own domain, the addresses you have already printed keep working.
What carries over
Checked against what the importer does.
- Slug and destination
- Each link is recreated with the same slug on one of your verified custom domains. Point that domain at ShortZen and the old address resolves here, unchanged.
- your domain
- Title and creation date
- Taken from your export when the file has them.
- from the file
- Total click count
- The old provider’s total becomes the link’s starting count. Analytics counts only the clicks ShortZen records, from the day the link is imported.
- total only
What does not
Worth knowing before you cancel anything.
- Addresses on your old provider’s domain
- A link that looks like bit.ly/abc123 belongs to the provider, and nobody else can serve it. You can still import the destination and title, but that address stops working when you leave.
- shared domains
- Per-day click history
- Breakdowns by day, country and device for clicks that happened before the import are not brought across.
- history
How it works
Three steps, none of them irreversible.
- Verify a domain
- Add the custom domain your links are on and let it verify. The importer will not start without one.
- two DNS records
- Upload your export
- Upload the file from Bitly, Rebrandly, Short.io, Dub and the format is detected. Any other service works with a CSV of destinationUrl, slug and title. One import is up to 5,000 rows and 2 MB.
- CSV
- Preview, then commit
- Nothing is created until you confirm. The preview shows what will migrate and what is skipped, and a committed import can be undone.
- undo
Which plans can import
The importer starts on Starter. The free plan has no migration allowance.
Each paid plan has a one-time allowance of links to bring in (Starter 2,000, Pro 10,000, Business 50,000). It is separate from the monthly link quota, so moving in does not use up a month of normal work, and an undone import refunds what it spent.
