Plans and limits

What each plan includes, how to read a limit, and what happens when you reach one.

What a plan decides

Your plan decides two things: which features are switched on, and how much of each resource you get. Everything else about ShortZen works the same on every tier.

There are four plans: Free, Starter, Pro, and Business. The figures below are your workspace's actual numbers, not an example; if you belong to more than one workspace, switch between them and this page changes with you.

Your plan right now

These are the numbers in force for the workspace you are currently in. If you belong to more than one, switch workspaces and this section changes with it.

How to read a limit

You seeIt means
A numberThe cap. Reaching it blocks the next one until the month rolls over or you upgrade.
NoneYour plan grants zero of this. The action is refused, not merely discouraged.
UnlimitedNo ceiling at all. Reserved for a resource a plan grants without a cap. No current plan does, so this does not appear in the tables above.

None does not mean no cap

It is the opposite. A limit of none is a hard zero: a plan showing none for webhook endpoints cannot register one at all. A resource with no cap is written out as such, not shown as none.

Which limits reset

CounterResets
Links createdResets when the plan renews (the 1st of the month on Free).
Clicks tracked (alert only)Resets when the plan renews (the 1st of the month on Free).
Webhook deliveriesResets on the 1st of each calendar month, UTC, regardless of the renewal date.
Custom domains, bio pages, seats, webhook endpoints, UTM presets, folders, tags, saved viewsDoes not reset. A standing ceiling, not a monthly counter.
Routing rules on a linkDoes not reset. Counted per link, not across the workspace.
Links on a bio pageDoes not reset. Counted per page, not across the workspace.

Not every counter resets on the same day

Links and clicks reset with your billing cycle. Webhook deliveries reset on the calendar month instead, so on a mid-month renewal date the two can be a few days apart. Monthly counters also record what you created during the period, so deleting a link does not give back a slot from this month's allowance.

What happens at a limit

Limit reachedWhat happens
Links this monthThe create form offers an upgrade instead of a Create button. Existing links keep working.
Clicks this monthNothing breaks: links keep redirecting and counting, and you get an alert. On Free, tracking pauses above 10× the allowance until the month resets; the links still redirect.
Custom domainsThe add form is replaced by a limit notice. Verified domains keep serving.
Bio pagesYou cannot create another. Published pages stay published.
SeatsYou cannot invite anyone else. Existing members are unaffected.
API rate limitRequests are refused until the hour rolls over.

Published links are not taken hostage

Reaching a limit stops you creating more of something. It does not switch off what you already have, and it does not stop a link redirecting. That is a deliberate commitment, not an implementation detail.

Watching your usage

When a monthly counter is approaching its plan limit, Overview shows a Usage this period panel for that counter. The sidebar meters links created this month on the Free plan, and on any plan once that counter reaches 80%, and Billing carries the full set. Check one of those before a big batch of work: that is the reliable way to know where you stand. See Notifications and email digests for what does and does not reach you as you approach a limit, and which toggles govern it.

Try it on a real link

The free plan needs no card and has no time limit.
